Tina Fey Reprises Her Role as Palin on SNL
Saturday Night Live
knows a good thing when it sees it.
After helping to usher in the late-night comedy sketch show's
largest audience in seven years, former cast member and head writer
Tina Fey returned to
SNL to again play Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin. Fey was again joined in the opening sketch by
Amy Poehler, who this time played
CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric in a lampooning of the Republican vice presidential hopeful's real-life interview earlier in the week.
With Poehler playing it straight, Fey turned her spot-on impression up a few notches, mainly poking more fun at Palin's experience with foreign affairs (how could they resist another Alaska-Russia joke?) and her way of talking around the economic crisis.
The sketch finished with Fey asking to "use a lifeline" and "phone a friend," as if she were on
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. When Poehler corrected her, Fey quoted one of Palin's frequent lines from the real interview: "Well, in that case, I'm just gonna have to get back to ya."
