TV and Film stars Shine at Imagen Awards

Ugly Betty by Mitch Haddad/ABC

Superstars John Leguizamo, Jimmy Smits, Edward James Olmos, Lupe Ontiveros, Eva La Rue and Cesar Millan celebrated Latinos' work in TV and features at the 23rd Annual Imagen Awards Thursday night.

La Misma Luna, a critically acclaimed film by Patricia Riggin, scored the biggest win of the night with five trophies, including Best Picture, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ugly Betty won Best TV Series, while Best Actor and Actress went to Carlos Mencia ( Mind of Mencia) and Christina Milian ( Snowglobe), respectively.

Interestingly enough, America Ferrera, who was in Luna and currently starring in Ugly Betty, did not walk away with an acting award.

Helen Hernandez, president of the Imagen Foundation, told the Reporter, "The increase of Latino representation across entertainment disciplines is truly indicative of the prevalent role we play in Hollywood, mainstream America and throughout the world." - Erin Fox
