Tyler Perry is striking while the iron's hot and is adding to his successful
House of Payne track record with a spin-off based on the characters of his popular play and hit movie
Meet the Browns.
David Mann, who starred as Leroy Brown in Perry's hit film and appeared in several episodes of
House of Payne, is set to star in the series that picks up after Brown inherits a rundown house from his deceased dad.
TBS has ordered 10 episodes of
Meet the Browns, and Perry is once again keeping busy serving as the executive producer, director and occasional writer. "Tyler Perry is an extraordinary talent who has turned
House of Payne into a record-breaking hit," said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. "We're thrilled at having the chance to repeat that success with Leroy Brown, a character already proven to be a big hit with audiences." -
