Summer Brings New Endeavors to The Hills

Cameras are already rolling again for The Hills posse, but that isn't stopping them from embarking on summer pursuits. From fitness plans to professional development - not to mention requisite outings to Les Deux, obv! - summer's just another season for new challenges, only with less clothing.

TVGuide.com caught up with a few of the cast mates at Sunday's Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Carnival, which Whitney, Lauren, Lo and Speidi all attended to show their support for the cause. For Spencer Pratt, the event was already an annual tradition. Between photos with fans on the carnival grounds, he explained, "I grew up with [Elizabeth Glaser's son] Jake Glaser, so I've been coming to this event since I was in elementary school. We have so much love for this charity, and want to do anything we can to help out."

As more people mobbed his main squeeze, Heidi Montag, Pratt said that their summer was focused on finishing her album in time for The Hills Season 4 return in August. "We're in the studio with Todd Chapman," Pratt said. "He's doing all 12 songs. He's a genius." As for her next music videos, however, Heidi's losing some crew. With a chuckle (maybe about Heidi's last video?), Pratt said he would no longer be directing her filmic forays - just producing.

For now, music is the pair's only definite extra-curricular. That rumored Speidi spin-off is not happening "anytime soon," Pratt said. "We love The Hills. [Maybe] when the Hills is over."

Joining Pratt in the spin-off-rumor-squashing was costar Whitney Port. "I don't know what the story is," she admitted. "I haven't gotten a presentation of what it would be." Port then mused, "It could be fun. I've stayed a little private, so it could be a little scary, but I'm open to it."

Lauren Conrad, meanwhile, has a serious summer fitness plan in the works. Guided by a personal trainer, Conrad said she knew she'd soon be hitting the gym and reducing bikini body-busting foods. Despite the fact that her summer beauty mantra is "less is more," she's also not overdoing it: Sweets and alcohol are staying on the menu.

Apart from her fitness plans, however, Conrad was also serious about taking time out for the Foundation's benefit carnival, where she and her girl-pals were manning the pottery booth. "We all live very fortunate lives," she said, "and it's nice if we can give up any time [for charity]." - Anna Dimond
