Sheen on Sex & City
Legendary Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen
says not to believe any of those stories you've read about him having slept with 5,000 women. The Spin City
star tells the TV Guide Channel he was "baited" into making that claim during a recent interview with a reporter at the over-the-top men's magazine Maxim
"He's like, 'Well gimme a number,' and I said, 'I don't have any idea; I wasn't like, you know, keeping track,'" he says. "And he said, 'Well, 10?' And I said, 'No! That's impossible. I'm not old enough!' He said, 'Five?' I said, 'Okay, five! Sure, whatever!' I thought he meant five. He meant five thousand! What's wrong with that guy?"
For the record, Maxim's standing by the interview with the outspoken star, in its October issue. "He did say 5,000," says a spokeswoman for the magazine.
Sheen, whose wild ways have made many a headline over the years, says he actually doesn't have regrets about anything he's said to the press over the years. "You know, you can wish you could take something back, but what's the reality? You can't!" he says of his pre-sobriety ramblings. "A lot of that is coming to terms with a lot of the wreckage that I'd caused, and a lot of the damage I'd done. I can't live in regret but I don't shut the door on the past either."
The reformed Sheen says he's working hard these days to stay in shape for the Spin City gig by working out and following the high-protein, low-carbohydrate Zone diet. "It helps the physical aspect and then it improves the mind," he says. "And you do better work, I guess. That's what they told me, you know."
