Sarah Jessica's Fired Up About a Fashion Faux Pas

By now, the image of
Sarah Jessica Parker in her flowing,
silver Nina Ricci gown at the
Sex and the City premiere has circulated through just about every media outlet around the globe. Yet, despite how glam the actress looked, she's now suffering morning-after headaches about the dress's exclusivity, and feels duped by the fashion house that provided it for her big night.
The dress, as it turns out, had been worn before(!). To make matters worse, the dress' designer, Olivier Theyskens, accompanied the frock for its first outing, on socialite Lauren Davis Santo Domingo, earlier in May. A photo of them together on a red carpet has been on Style.com.
Parker told the
New York Times that Theyskens assured her that the dress had not been wore before. While she noted that dress issues are not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, the relationship between Hollywood and fashion is serious business. "My affection for the dress hasn't changed," she explained, "but what they did was so short-sighted. It's just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again."
Members of the fashion house, meanwhile, downplayed the Santo Domingo pic as not really counting (ouch!). Was the fashion faux pas truly unethical, or is SJP making a little ado about nothing? Unzip the issue, below.
