The Scorpion King ruled over the box office for the second consecutive weekend, placing No. 1 with $17.6 million. However, the pic saw its audience erode by more than 50 percent, an indication that Spider-Man will face little competition when it opens Friday. The Ben Affleck-Samuel Jackson thriller Changing Lanes held steady at No. 2 with $9 million, followed by Angelina Jolie's new romantic comedy Life or Something Like It, which made, like, a pitiful $6.65 million. Slasher sequel Jason X was also DOA, grossing $6.5 million for fourth place.
