Question: I've heard that the WB network will be picking up a TV series based on Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. When will this show start? Is WB a broadcast or a cable channel?

Televisionary: Sorry to say the network has clipped the lizards' wings.

Published reports say the scuttling of the series, which was to center on an imaginary world where people and dragons live peacefully together, was due to "creative differences." It's a shame, too, since Executive Producer Ronald Moore has turned in good work on Roswell and the Star Trek update series Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

To answer your other question, though, the WB is a broadcast channel. If you're not really mad at them for grounding the dragons, I'm sure they'd love you to sample some of their other fine shows. Like that daffy Sabrina, for instance — what mischief will she conjure up this week?
