Question: Could you please ...
Question: Could you please tell me what year the TV show The Invisible Man with David McCallum (who was in The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) was on? The show didn't stay on long, but I liked it anyway. Thank you.
Televisionary: No problem. Truth be told, there are many, many shows I liked that didn't stay on long. In fact, for a while I was convinced I'd developed an uncanny ability to kill a series simply by becoming a fan.
The Invisible Man, an attempt to update the classic story (much like the current Scifi Channel series), ran on NBC from the fall of 1975 to January of the following year. As you say, it starred U.N.C.L.E. vet McCallum as Dr. Daniel Westin, who invented a technique for making people and objects invisible, then went on the lam and used it on himself rather than see his discovery used as a government weapon. Craig Stevens and Melinda Fee co-starred.
Stuck in his invisible state, Westin was able to use latex, contact lenses and a wig to avoid doing the old bandages-and-shades routine.
But new technology wasn't enough to earn adequate ratings. The show disappeared in short order.
