Eric Johnson, best known to
Smallville fans as Clark's onetime nemesis, Whitney Fordman, has landed the lead in
Flash Gordon, Sci Fi Channel's upcoming 22-hour series offering a contemporary take (sorry, Queen) on the comic strip-inspired adventures of the titular hero and fellow space travelers Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov. Production starts May 1, with
Smallville's Rick Rosenthal directing.
