Morgan Freeman has left a Memphis hospital following a Sunday-night car crash.

The office of Freeman's publicist, Ken Sunshine, confirmed to TVGuide.com that the actor was released around noon Thursday.

Freeman had surgery late Monday. He suffered a broken arm and elbow, as well as minor shoulder damage.

Freeman, 71, and his passenger, Demaris Meyer, were traveling eastbound on Highway 32, in Mississippi's Tallahatchie County, when the actor's Nissan Maxima veered off the road. As Freeman overcorrected, the vehicle flipped several times before coming to a rest. Police say that is no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved.

The actor's attorney disclosed this week that Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee, his wife of 24 years, were divorcing.

Freeman won the Oscar for best supporting actor in 2005 (for his role in Million Dollar Baby), and has been nominated three other times. - Tim Molloy
