A Beautiful Mind and Moulin Rouge were the big winners at the 59th annual Golden Globe Awards, handed out Sunday night in Los Angeles. Mind won a field-best four awards, including best dramatic film, best dramatic actor (Russell Crowe), best supporting actress (Jennifer Connelly) and best screenplay (Akiva Goldsman). Runner-up Moulin won three: best comedy or musical film, best actress in a comedy or musical (Nicole Kidman) and best original score (Craig Armstrong). The big shock of the night was veteran filmmaker Robert Altman, 76, picking up the best director prize for his ensemble mystery Gosford Park. Other big-screen victors: Sissy Spacek (best dramatic actress for In the Bedroom), Gene Hackman (best actor in a comedy or musical for The Royal Tenenbaums) and Jim Broadbent (best supporting actor for Iris).
