Variety is reporting that
Saturday Night Live's
Cheri Oteri — best known for her impersonations of
Barbara Walters,
Judge Judy and
Melissa Rivers — is quitting the sketch show to pursue a career in prime time and films. The comedian — arguably one of the best things about
SNL in recent years — has enjoyed great success this summer, starring in the sleeper hit
Scary Movie and earning an Emmy nomination for her guest stint on NBC's
Just Shoot Me. According to the trade paper, the networks have approached Oteri about a sitcom deal. An
SNL rep had no comment at press time.
