Jesse L. Martin is coming back to TV.
Less than a year after defecting from
Law & Order, the actor is in talks to return to NBC in the midseason drama
The Philanthropist, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.
Martin, who spent nine years on
L&O, would portray Philip Maidstone, business partner and friend of lead Teddy Rist (James Purefoy), an altruistic billionaire who helps those in need worldwide.
Production is expected to begin soon. The series is slated for a spring premiere with a truncated episode order, down from the original 13.
