Grey's Star: Heigl Emmy Controversy Misdiagnosed

Katherine Heigl by Dan MacMedan/WireImage.com

A new chapter began Tuesday in the Katherine Heigl Emmygate when Grey's Anatomy costar Chandra Wilson weighed in on the issue.

In the midst of speaking to the press about her upcoming Hallmark Channel movie, Wilson had Heigl's back when the subject came up. "It's amazing to me that it got so blown out of proportion," she said. "If you ask every single actor on every single show, they'll tell you the same thing. Some years you submit [your name for consideration], some years you don't."

Heigl - who took home an Emmy last fall - sparked much speculation when she recently explained that she would not seek another statuette this year by saying, "I did not feel that I was given the material [on Grey's] to warrant an Emmy nomination." Widely seen as a bid to find an exit from the show, the comment, of course, spread like wildfire.

With her statement on the matter, Wilson seems to have hoped to water down the remaining embers. Do you think her point's valid, or a cover-up for an unfortunate gaffe? - Anna Dimond
