Eddie Murphy and his gut-busting clan feasted on its box office competition over the weekend. Nutty Professor II: The Klumps debuted in first place with an estimated gross of $42.7 million, making it the biggest opening of Murphy's career and nearly double the original's take in its first weekend. And although last week's top flick, What Lies Beneath, was bumped to second, the thriller slipped just 26 percent, pulling in roughly $22 million. Compare that to X-Men, which managed to hang on to third place with $11.5 million despite plummeting more than 50 percent for the second consecutive weekend. Rounding out the top five were Scary Movie ($8.1 million) and The Perfect Storm ($7 million). Newcomer Thomas and the Magic Railroad derailed in ninth place with $4.2 million.
