Doctor Who Gets New "Chief of Staff"

Doctor Who courtesy BBC America

Steven Moffat, a BAFTA-winning scribe who penned some of Doctor Who's most acclaimed recent episodes (including "Blink"), has been tapped to take over as show runner for the sci-fi series. Moffat replaces Russell T. Davies starting with Season 5, which launches on the BBC in 2010.

"My entire career has been a secret plan to get this job," Moffat tells the Reporter. "I applied for it once before but... the BBC wanted someone else. Also, I was 7."

BBC boss Jane Tranter deems Moffat a worthy successor to "the spectacularly talented" Davies, adding, "The Tardis couldn't be in safer hands." - MWM
