Claire Forlani Copes With Stardom

If you live in Beverly Hills and notice a beautiful woman standing outside of your house, it might be Claire Forlani. The Meet Joe Black actress tells us that when she moved from London to Los Angeles in 1993 she said hooray for Hollywood.

"My passion was American film. The best moment for me was seeing the Hollywood sign. I'm sick! I read Hollywood Babylon. I did the star map. That's all I did with my friends. I didn't take anybody to Disneyland. I was like: 'Do you want to see where Gary Cooper lived?' "

Now that Forlani herself is starring in films, is being a celeb all it's cracked up to be? "It's never what you expect. Not that it's bad, but it's not what I expected. I feel like I'm in a bad therapy session right now ? 'Claire's ongoing dilemma.' Then again, I don't know what I ever expected."

She's as candid about her life as she is funny: Asked if she's gained citizenship yet, she jokes, "I'm an illegal alien and have been for many years. If you rub my skin, I go green." Ask her how her role in Into My Heart came to her and she quips, "They mailed it."

Forlani plays a woman who has an affair with her husband's best friend in the film, which was completed more than three years ago; the actress saw it for the first time only recently. "It felt like looking at a different person and time. In the past three years my mother died, I've had more relationships and I've made many more films. And a lot more therapy!"
