Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi and Salman Rushdie to Divorce

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi and British author Salman Rushdie will divorce, Reuters reports. Lakshmi, a model, actress and cookbook author, is currently hosting the third season of Bravo's reality series Top Chef. Rushdie is best known for his controversial novel The Satanic Verses. The pair wed in 2004 and have no children.

Rushdie's agent, Jin Auh, released a statement saying, "Salman Rushdie has agreed to divorce his wife, Padma Lakshmi, because of her desire to end their marriage. He asks that the media respect his privacy at this difficult time." - Reporting by Marissa Klein
