Jim Carrey is in talks to star in the romantic dramedy Bijou, to be directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile), Variety reports. Set in 1951, the film centers around a blacklisted writer with amnesia who stumbles into a small town and is mistaken for a soldier who died. Carrey's decision to take on a more serious role comes after his latest film, the lowbrow farce Me, Myself & Irene, performed disappointingly at the box office. He'll next appear in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, opening Nov. 17.
