Don't necessarily believe all those tales you've read about wild sexual hijinks on the set of the hit 1960s TV series Batman
Yvonne "Batgirl" Craig tells TV Guide Online there's "no possible way" co-stars Adam "Batman" West and Burt "Robin" Ward were fooling around with groupies on the set, as suggested in Ward's 1995 book, Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights.
"This could have been happening on the road or in Adam's dressing room but this could never have actually happened on the set," says the veteran actress. "There are too many people walking around behind flats for anything other than business."
Craig is sharing her decidedly tamer recollections of life on the Batman set in a new autobiography, From Ballet to the Batcave and Beyond (for ordering information, visit www.yvonnecraig.com). The book also includes chapters on her former showbiz boyfriends (Vince Edwards, Bill Bixby and Mort Sahl) plus behind-the-scenes tales of work on projects ranging from Star Trek to the Elvis Presley movies Kissing Cousins and It Happened at the World's Fair.
"I'm very disappointed and somewhat angry at the people who write really nasty things about him," Craig says about the King. "He was the consummate professional and he was a Southern gentleman. He even called me 'ma'am!' "
