ABC Orders Family Sitcom Pilot
Back to You producers are coming back to TV - this time on ABC.
The Alphabet has snapped up Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd to create an as-yet-untitled comedy about three American families, told through the perspective of a Dutch documentary filmmaker, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.
How committed is ABC to the series? It's already put in a pilot order with a significant penalty attached.
Shot single-camera style and produced by 20th Century Fox, the series will revolve around one traditional family and two untraditional ones - a gay couple with a newly adopted Vietnamese tot; and a May-December couple with a son.
The filmmaker is a former foreign exchange student who had stayed with one of the families years ago.
The show was inspired by the Levitan and Lloyd's own family lives; both are married with children.
In addition to last season's
Back to You, the duo had also collaborated on
Frasier and
Wings. -
