Snake Plissken, the anti-hero of Escape From New York and Escape From L.A. played by Kurt Russell, is mounting a multimedia comeback this spring in the form of a comic book series and a new animated feature film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Russell will lend his voice to the pic, which is being targeted for release in 2004. The Big Apple will help kick off the 2002 NFL season with a massive Times Square bash that is being dubbed the "world's largest tailgate party." Bon Jovi will headline the Sept. 5 event, which takes place just hours before the New York Giants take on the San Francisco 49ers across the Hudson in New Jersey. Mayor Michael Bloomberg hopes the party will provide a boost to businesses struggling since the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Seth Green's Evil Principles

After making his third scene-stealing appearance as Dr. Evil's sarcastic spawn, Seth Green wants to make it clear that he wasn't just in Austin Powers in Goldmember for the green stuff, baby. And since he made this claim prior to the film's record-breaking $71.5 million opening weekend, we're inclined to believe him.

"My concern [about Goldmember] was not to make a movie for the sole purpose of making money," he explains, "not wringing out the proverbial talent 'til it's dry." Luckily, after reading the script, Green realized Mike Myers had no intention of phoning in the funny. "The second I read it, I was put completely at ease."

Erin Brockovich, the legal eagle Julia Roberts won an Oscar for portraying, has signed a deal with Lifetime to host a new reality drama Final Justice. The show — slated to debut in early 2003 — profiles women who took on the system and won. read more


How badly will Harry Potter clobber George Clooney this fall? That's the question all of Hollywood is asking themselves now that 20th Century Fox has moved up the release of Clooney's sci-fi thriller, Solaris, from Dec. 13 to Nov. 27 — just a stone's throw from the Nov. 15 debut of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Fox is betting that Solaris — which reunites Clooney with his Ocean's Eleven and Out of Sight director Steven Soderbergh — will be the perfect adult alternative to Potter. Now here's a show the whole family can't watch: ABC is producing a six-part behind-the-scenes special on its lowbrow reality series The Bachelor. Hosted by inaugural Bachelor Alex Michel, the miniseries — which will run for six consecutive nights from Aug. 11-16 on sister cable net ABC Family (huh?) — promises to answer all the questions about what really happened on the show. read more


Soap star-turned-Live spitfire Kelly Ripa seems to be downplaying a story in Monday's New York Post that said she plans to quit All My Children when her contract expires in December. The Post reported Ripa would make only sporadic appearances on the sudser. "All My Children has been and will continue to be a big part of my life," Ripa responded in a statement. "I hope to continue to appear as Hayley Santos for many years to come." read more


Forget all those pollution jokes, New Jersey was the place to be this morning. Some 10,000 fans — including Gov. James E. McGreevey — flooded the boardwalk in Asbury Park to catch hometown heroes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform a special concert, broadcast live on the Today show. The rare appearance coincided with today's release of The Rising, Springsteen's first album with E Street since 1984. read more
