The last four years have not been kind to 24: Live Another Day's Chloe O'Brian.
As viewers learned in the event series' premiere, more than just Chloe's appearance has changed since her days as a CTU analyst. On Monday's episode (9/8c, Fox), we'll find out exactly what went down when Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) tells Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) the heartbreaking truth. An added bonus: Chloe's confession also begins to thaw the icy dynamic between Jack and his former sidekick.

24: Live Another Day: Is Jack Bauer the hero or the villain?

"She's questioning him more than she has," Rajskub tells TVGuide.com. "And it's kind of sad that it has to come out of this extreme situation — that she has to be in this place of such extreme pain to be able to speak her mind to him."

But the special moment doesn't make their relationship 100 percent whole. In fact, even though Jack makes it clear to Chloe that he can't stop the assassination attempt against President Heller (William Devane) without her, it's ultimately Chloe's choice whether or not she will continue the mission. Fortunately, Chloe is still on board... for now.
"They do care about each other, they do trust each other," Rajskub says. "She's very angry, and she doesn't want to do it. But there is a part of her that doesn't want to let him down, and she's going along with it, even though that's not really where she's at. But there is a question mark."

Perhaps complicating matters is Chloe's relationship with hacker Adrian Cross (Michael Wincott), who has perhaps filled the void Jack once occupied for Chloe four years ago. "In her mind, [Adrian] has really saved her and showed her a whole world that she didn't know existed," Rajskub says. "She's found somebody that she can lean on. He's her rock, her intellectual equal, and he's inspiring her to have some purpose and have some drive in life. Whether or not that's a good thing for her has yet to be seen, but it has [kept] her from not losing all of her marbles yet."But unlike Chloe, Adrian's willingness to help Jack Bauer may only go so far. Could Chloe ultimately be forced to choose between them? "Is she going to be, like, 'Alright, I've had enough of this,' and walk away [from Jack], or is she going to continue to go down this road?" Rajskub says. "She doesn't agree with him, yet she is reluctantly going with him. It could destroy their relationship altogether."24: Live Another Day airs Mondays at 9/8c on Fox.
