Breaking Bad and Louie topped the TV categories at the 2013 Writers Guild Awards, while Argoand Zero Dark Thirtywere victorious in the film categories.

Breaking Bad was named best drama series for the second year in a row, beating former winner Mad Men, which won best episodic drama for the episode "The Other Woman."

Best comedy series went to Louie, which ended Modern Family's two-year winning streak. However, the ABC comedy didn't go home empty-handed: It won best episodic comedy for "Virgin Territory". Best new series went to Girls.

In the long-form TV categories, Hatfields & McCoys nabbed the prize for best original script, while HBO's Game Change was honored was best adapted screenplay. The Simpsons won best animated series, and Portlandia was named best comedy/variety series. The Young and the Restless was honored as best daytime drama.

With a week left before the Oscars, Argo and Zero Dark Thirty cemented their status as front-runners with wins for best adapted screenplay and best original screenplay, respectively.
