10 Things to Know About Arrested Development Season 4

Get ready to blue yourself. Arrested Development's long-awaited fourth season is almost here.

So what will it take to bring the Bluths back together? Will George Michael and Maeby finally get together? And if you haven't seen a single episode -- or have simply forgot what happened -- will be easy to jump into the new season?

We were present at Arrested Development press day in Los Angeles earlier this month where David Cross, Jason Bateman, Jessica Walter, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, and Michael Cera answered all our burning questions.

And for those who took one too many forget me nows, here's a quick refresher of where we left the Bluths seven long years ago. Michael and George Michael fled their family on The Seaward (not Lucille, the yacht) only to find themselves with none other than George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor) in Cabo. Gob's relationship with his nephew's Christian ex-girlfriend (Her?) was exposed while Lindsay found out she's actually a Sitwell --and 40! Maeby tricked her family into signing away their rights so that she can move forward with a movie and we discovered that Annyong (Justin Lee) is actually a revenge-obsessed informant for the SEC who reported his adopted mother Lucille.

But when it comes to the Arrested story-telling you've come to know and love, get ready to say goodbye to these! Each episode of the fourth season -- all of which will be available May 26 on Netflix - will follow a different member of the Bluth family over the same time period, with some scenes repeated from different perspectives.

Sound a little confusing? Here's what the cast had to say about the new format, chances of a movie and more:

1. Manage your expectations "I don't think that it will be easy," Bateman said of new viewers jumping in. "But I hope that's appreciated by the few people that do love the show." Cross added that viewers will reach "a bit of an epiphany" a few episodes in regarding the new format. "That's going to make everybody triple excited and there is going to be a sense of discovery to it that I think would be really exciting and will redefine what TV can be." Though excited about the new direction, Bateman did ask that fans manage their expectations. "If you call it a season, the implication is that this is going to feel like the other seasons and it's not. They are episodes."

2. Cousin love lives! Though Michael advised his son to move on from Maeby in the finale, George Michael might not be willing to comply. "The Maeby thread is still going," Cera said. "I mean they have a kid. I don't know if that's a spoiler but there are two children I think," Bateman joked. And George Michael's continued love of Maeby isn't the only way he'll be defying his father this season. "Actually, he's less of a daddy's boy this season and kind of trying to take a step back," Cera said. By doing so, Cera added, George Michael is "actually turning into Michael inadvertently."

3. The family loves Michael -- at least when they're broke What does it take to bring the Bluths back together? The same thing as always. "We all probably needed money, That would be the one thing that would get us together," de Rossi quipped. Too bad they won't be back together that often. "There are only, I think, two scenes in the entire 15 episodes where we were all nine of us together," Walter admitted.

4. The format may differ, but not the Bluths When it comes to the notoriously flawed family, de Rossi said, "there's not a lot of growth." (The show is called Arrested Development, after all). In fact, according to Walter, the Bluths are actually regressing a little this season. "The desperation is magnified, I would say, in the fifteen episodes we just did," she said.

5. More people will be feeling blue Tobias and George Sr. aren't the only ones to blue themselves this time around. "There are a couple characters that get blue," Cross revealed, though he wouldn't name names.

6. Michael Cera is a triple-threat In addition to acting, Cera also helped write and produce the new episodes (though Bateman joked his role was "mostly lunch orders"). "I didn't do anything that earned me a producer's credit," Cera said. "I think they just had to give me some kind of credit for being in that [writers'] room."

7. There will be birds Why? Who knows! But at some point in the premiere a vulture and an ostrich show up (and not as Lindsay's boots). "[The vulture] smelled surprisingly good," Bateman said. "Though we shot early in the day, so he probably just had showered."

8. Season 4 is only the beginning Creator Mitch Hurwitz intends the fourth season to be the first of a three-act plan, with the other two acts being played out in a feature film (fingers crossed). "Well, I hope that there is still a possibility of a movie," de Rossi said. "I think we all would love to be a part of this crazy family for as long as we can be in any format that Mitch thinks is right for the show."

9. David Cross was as upset about the show's cancelation as you were While Bateman said the cast was sad, but "grateful that we got that far," Cross' reaction to the bad news was a bit more visceral. "I was a little pissed that it was canceled, kind of unceremoniously. I don't know if vindication is the word I'd use, but it's certainly satisfying to know that all of us, as well as all the fans were right," he said.

10. Michael is the Mary Tyler Moore of the Bluths "Without Jason at the center, the satellite of us -- you know, dysfunctional, crazy family around him -- I don't think it would have worked. I don't think The Mary Tyler Moore Show would have worked without her and her skills, and Jason has the skills to be in the middle of crazy people," Walter said, inspiring Cross to joke that Moore had originally been cast as Michael, "but she had to drop out to get more plastic surgery.
