painfully obvious message movie. John Travolta is a rough-edged, hard-working guy who can't get a break because smug racists like Harry Belafonte have all the power. His son won't play with a white-skinned action figure because all the real superheroes are black. Condescending African-American

women coo about how cute little white children are. You can guess the rest. This well-intentioned, heavy-handed parable might conceivably be an eye-opener for children, but it's R-rated -- so what's the point?
