A delightfully funny and pleasant comedy from the director of THE TALL BLOND MAN WITH ONE BLACK SHOE, in which Noiret plays an incredibly lazy farmer who doesn't see much reason for putting forth an effort to do anything. His dream is to just lie in bed all day, expending as little energy

as possible--a life he finally gets to lead when his pushy wife dies. Noiret does exactly what he dreamed, even having his dog take care of such chores as going to the market. He eventually meets a young girl who seems to agree with his life style, but as the wedding day approaches, she begins to

exhibit the same characteristics as Noiret's first wife. So Noiret runs from the altar back to the carefree life with his dog. Although in French, this is the type of film that can easily be understood and enjoyed without understanding the dialog. The story is simple, is gracefully handled by

Robert, and has a theme that can be universally appreciated. (In French; English subtitles.)
