This ranks as one of cowboy hero Starrett's best outings. When his pal Lane is wrongly accused of murder, Starrett saves him and some other accused killers from a lynch mob. But Lane takes off, which causes Starrett to lose both his job as a lawman and the respect of the townsfolk. To

clear both his and Lane's reputation Starrett sets off after the real killer and meets him in a well-handled climactic gun battle. Sears is the murderer, nicely playing his role as one of western movies' first psychotic badmen. The story is directed with real excitement, backed by solid dialog.

Starrett and his supporting cast fill their roles well.
