unfunny. And since Offer wrote, produced, directed, co-edited and stars in most of the segments, the blame falls squarely on his shoulders. Its skits include two long send-ups of superhero cliches (the second, The Adventures of Dickman, features a guy with a penis on his head who's out to

save the world from evil lesbians); a Baywatch parody called, heh-heh, Boobwatch; a music video take-off on Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." called, of course, "I Hate L.A."; the "Miss America Bag Lady" contest; Flirty Harry, about a gay cop in a dress; a GODFATHER lampoon called

The Godmother, featuring Joey Buttafuoco; a segment that pokes fun at TV movie critics, featuring two jerks who review porno movies with titles like "Sushi Mama" and "Donna of the Dead"; and a closing cameo by L.A. pin-up girl Angelyne. There are also inexplicable cameo appearances by

Baywatch star Gena Lee Nolin (who's conspicuously absent from the Boobwatch skit) and Slash, of Guns 'N' Roses. Its vigorous attempts to offend notwithstanding, the movie's most astonishing moment occurs in the closing credits, in the form of a special acknowledgement that reads "To

the 'writers' of There's Something About Mary... after all, imitation is the highest form of flattery. (Please return the promotional copy you got a hold of in 1997. You used enough of it already!)" Offer's lack of talent is matched only by his capacity for self-delusion.
