After receiving instructions from a mysterious gypsy, youngsters Patrick and Carter learn how to turn themselves into bears. This at first confuses their school-principal father Albert, but soon he becomes proud of his boys' unusual ability. His colleagues wonder about him; he is sent to

a psychiatrist and recommended for dismissal. Leave it to those two boys to show the town that their father is right, turning into bears right before everyone's eyes. Luckily the football season is approaching and eclipses their interest in metamorphosis. This unusual child fantasy has an odd

premise that really works. The direction occasionally panders to the more saccharine elements of the story, but for the most part this minor film has some entertaining moments. The kids will love it and probably get a few ideas as well. Patrick apparently was heavily influenced by the role, for he

went on to play Eddie, the wolf-boy son in the TV-sitcom "The Munsters."
