Racist scientist Milland is dying of cancer. He figures the only way to defeat the disease is stitch his own head next to someone else's and conduct some bizarre two-headed experiments with a gorilla (played by Hollywood makeup whiz Baker). When he slips into a coma, Milland has quite a

surprise in store when he is stitched onto the shoulders of ex-pro football player Grier, a wrongly condemned convict who volunteered for the experiment to save his life. When he wakes up, Milland and his traveling companion run around fighting for control of the body by screaming racist remarks

and punching each other's heads. Directed by a 1960s adult-film veteran with much of the same production team of the highly inferior THE INCREDIBLE TWO-HEADED TRANSPLANT, THE THING WITH TWO HEADS somehow overcomes its inherent stupidity with some zippy direction and Baker's excellent makeup jobs.

Best of all is the rapport between Milland and Grier. The two make this inane material work with an unusual comic chemistry that really fits.
