In the grand Hollywood tradition of gridiron heroes cast as themselves (Elroy Hirsch--CRAZYLEGS, ALL AMERICAN; Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis--THE SPIRIT OF WEST POINT; Tom Harmon--HARMON OF MICHIGAN), one-time San Francisco Forty-Niner quarterback and Stanford All-American Frankie Albert

stars in this reportedly autobiographical account of the turning point in his football career. Full of himself, Albert decides to quit school and turn pro just before the Cardinals' big game, but, when his roommate takes ill, the southpaw slinger reconsiders and returns to the Stanford lineup. The

film's title is equally appropriate for another Stanford great who makes a brief appearance here, Hall of Famer Ernie Nevers.
