Hugh Sinclair takes over the title role of RKO's noted international sleuth. In this adventure, the Saint and sidekick Monty Hayward (Macrae) are in Switzerland on vacation and soon become involved in a hunt for a music box containing a secret code that is sought by a group of

international spies. Murder, torture, and mail robbery ensue in the usual Saint style. The direction is up to par, a fast style that works well with the hide-and-seek plot. Unfortunately, Sinclair lacks the charm and finesse of his predecessor, George Sanders. Still, he gives it his best shot,

helped by Sally Gray, a series vet who makes a return appearance. This was the last of RKO's films of the "Saint" series. THE SAINT'S VACATION marked the first time Leslie Charteris, the sleuth's creator, contributed to the screenplay.
