After making a shambles of his life, a dead man (Barrymore) returns to set things straight. Instead he makes more of a mess trying to push his adopted daughter (Mack) into an engagement with his insipid nephew (Vincent). She, however, loves another man (Bush). Lacking direction, this film

rambles around to nowhere. Director Nicholls seemed unable to decide whether he wanted to play the story straight or for laughs, and the film suffers for it. A play written and produced by David Belasco in 1911 served as the inspiration for this film, as well as for a silent released by Fox in

1926. This was the last film produced for RKO by MacGowan, who moved on to Fox.
