An updating of the "Jimmy Valentine" stories filmed in 1920 and 1928. This time out, a newspaper, in an effort to boost circulation and combat the rising popularity of radio, offers a reward to anyone who can find the aging safecracker. Pryor, their ace reporter, wants the reward himself

and gets on the trail of the former thief. Henry is the crook's daughter, with whom Pryor falls in love. Together they meet some of her father's old enemies and combat their crooked schemes. The film starts off slowly but gradually builds to a fairly exciting conclusion. Warwick, who played the

safecracker in the 1920 film, returns to play the character in retirement. Armstrong, who contributed to the story, is the son of Jimmy Valentine's creator. Though an average gangster film, this one is helped by integrating the romance into the story rather than just grafting it on, as was usually

the case in the genre. Kennedy, as usual, is fine in comic relief.
