Ill-conceived story about a man who becomes the victim of a blackmail scheme. A woman with whom he was having an affair supposedly is murdered, making him easy prey for a blackmailer. When he gets desperate for money, the man bets and loses his last bit of cash at the track. He kills the

blackmailer the next time a payment comes due, and then discovers that the girl never was killed in the first place. This was one of the first screenwriting efforts for Lee-Thompson, who would have a long and illustrious career lasting into the 1970s as both a writer and director. He worked on

such films as THE GUNS OF NAVARONE (1961) and THE YELLOW BALLOON (1952). Although the idea for THE PRICE OF FOLLY was good, the haphazard manner in which it was brought to the screen did little to foreshadow the future of Lee-Thompson.
