who wanted his life savings to go to a good cause. Responding to public outcry over the theft, the thief buries the loot in the garden of a poor widow for safekeeping until the heat dies down. The widow, however, finds the cash and exchanges it with a greedy grocer for a credit note. The thief

resteals the cash from the grocer, but soon loses it to a young man who uses the money to bail out his sweetheart's father, who is heavily in debt. Once again the thief steals the money from the girl's father's creditor, but the cash ends up back at the church, from which the thief intends to

steal it again.
