This heavy-handed war melodrama has three British paratroopers caught behind German lines. Hemmings, Bell, and Beckley are the men who wait in a burned-out building for their sergeant's arrival. Hemmings is a pacifist, Bell is the oldest and most experienced, and Beckley is a war-loving

sadist. They capture a German officer, Dobie, who tricks them into letting him live, and set out to find their sergeant, only to discover his throat slit. They spend the night in a farm house before heading back to their own lines and get into a skirmish with a German patrol. Beckley is killed,

and so are the Germans. The remaining two men and their prisoner make it to the British lines only to be cut down by their own men.
