An archaeologist and two assistants unearth the tomb of a beheaded Aztec chief and discover not only his mummy, but the mummies of the Grand Priest and the chief's fiancee--who was buried alive. Although the fiancee's mummy disintegrates, the chief's severed head remains intact and the

archaeologist brings it home. He also gives a ring found on the finger of the fiancee to his daughter--who is a lookalike for of the long-dead woman. Shortly thereafter, the archaeologist discovers that his daughter has become possessed by the head of the chief, which has come to life and commands

her to kill the defilers of his tomb. This poorly directed Mexican effort sounds more interesting than it actually is. Originally filmed in 1959, THE LIVING HEAD was dubbed into English for US distribution ten years later by schlock impresario K. Gordon Murray.
