Warner is the title character, a philosophical space being who shares his experiences with pilot Kiley while he is grounded in the desert. Besides Fosse--who superbly choreographed the "snake in the grass" sequence, a film highlight--the supporting players lack the necessary spark. It could have

been great; instead it's forgettable. Songs include "It's a Hat," "I Need Air," "I'm on Your Side," "Be Happy," "You're a Child," "I Never Met a Rose," "Why Is the Desert (Lovely to See)?" "Closer and Closer and Closer," "Little Prince (From Who Knows Where)" (Frederick Loewe, Alan Jay Lerner).

Nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Song ("Little Prince") and Best Score.
