A series of brutal rapes and murders have begun occurring with alarming regularity in the small town of Galen, Wisconsin. A teenager, Duncan McIntosh, has had horrible dreams concerning the rapes and fears he is the culprit, especially since many of his friends have been victims. A doctor,

John Cassavetes, and the sheriff, John Ireland, discover the town has a dark past, involving Satanism. After many bloody rape-murders--including one in a movie-theater restroom--we get a glimpse of the killer, a demonic-looking incubus that is onscreen for all of 30 seconds. Though potentially

interesting, THE INCUBUS suffers from a moronic script, which tosses the audience a dozen different diversions in the name of suspense. The actual result is frustration and boredom, and not even the performance of Cassavetes can save the film. Director John Hough (THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE) tries

to spice things up with some floating camera moves, but to no avail. This was made under a Canadian tax shelter program by a group of moneywise (and artistically inept) businessmen, and it looks like the bottom line in horror movies.
