O'Hara is a Boston society girl who marries gambler Wilde. Together they tour the famous racetracks of the world until he finally runs out of money. He borrows from his former girl friend, Walker, who then won't let go of him. O'Hara wonders why she gave up a fiance in the State Department

for this sort of life and considers divorce. But Wilde has a change of heart, and, hoping to rebuild his stables, wagers everything on his last horse's Kentucky Derby run. His horse loses by a nose to O'Hara's, but Wilde and O'Hara reconcile their differences at the film's happy ending. THE

HOMESTRETCH is not a bad movie, but it is hard to care much about a plot that seems so familiar. There is some wonderful footage of racetracks like Ascot in England, Palermo in South America, Saratoga, and Churchill Downs. The Technicolor is used well and the final horse race is an exciting

sequence.
