American boy Clark runs away from his Swiss boarding school, trying to reach father Kelly in Paris. The boy wants to prove to his father that he is self-sufficient enough to live in Paris with him. Fossey, a student at the same school who has a crush on Clark, goes along to act as

interpreter. Kelly and Laage, Fossey's mother, meet at the school and take an instant dislike to each other. They are stuck, however, so they take to the road in search of their kids. The children, meanwhile, are having a series of adventures, eluding police and NATO patrols, getting help from a

group of sympathetic students, and riding into Paris with some bicycle racers. Kelly and Laage give up their search and return to Paris where they find the children asleep in Kelly's bed. Their hostility melts away and before the close things are looking distinctly matrimonial. Charming film,

worth seeking out. Maurice Chevalier sings the title song and is, of course, a joy.
