One of many films, songs, and stories about the Ned Kelly gang, outlaws of the outback, their story as famous down under as the Jesse James legend is in the US (and closely paralleling it in many ways). By the same token, the action of THE GLENROWAN AFFAIR, in which the police-hating

Kelly mob lures a trainload of cops to that town after removing a section of track, thinking to cause a derailment, is as well known in Australia as the story behind THE GREAT NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA, RAID (1972). Unfortunately, this poorly made depiction of the former event doesn't begin to come up

was tried and hanged in Melbourne in 1880.
