Based on the 1931 film, A FREE SOUL, which starred Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, and Lionel Barrymore (in the roles played by Taylor, Lamas, and Powell in this version). The story stars Taylor as the spoiled daughter of Powell, a prominent criminal lawyer. Taylor falls in love with Lamas,

a ringleader of a gambling syndicate and one of Powell's clients. Despite the opposition of Powell and her ex-boy friend, Young, she is determined to marry Lamas. On the eve of her wedding, Taylor discovers that Lamas is about to be brought before a crime investigation committee. Lamas assaults

Powell in front of Taylor, making her come to her senses just before Lamas is bumped off by his fellow mobsters, allowing Taylor to go into the open arms of Young. Taylor was pregnant with her first child during the shooting of THE GIRL WHO HAD EVERYTHING and the shooting schedule was skillfully

reorganized so that her more revealing scenes could be filmed before her pregnancy became too obvious. This was also Powell's last film for MGM, the studio where he had done most of his best work.
