Although its title has taken on a new, misleading connotation in recent years, THE GAY ADVENTURE presents a trio of interesting fantasies, all provoked by a glimpse of the same blonde Venus, Valenska, a wooden actress with an unintelligible accent whom producer de Grunwald seemed to be

grooming for Marlene Dietrich-style stardom. For some reason this picture, completed in 1949, was held back from release for nearly four years. Harrison, who appears in one of the three episodes, became a star in the interim, which was doubtless the reason for her high billing among the cast

members. Valenska is first spotted on a train by French bus driver Aumont, who then imagines the beautiful blonde as a sexy photographer's model with whom he has an amorous adventure on the French Riviera. Meredith, an American Army officer, spies Valenska on the Channel ferry, and she enters his

dreams as a singer in a sleazy cabaret in occupied Berlin. Murdoch, the proper Britisher who sights Valenska on the boat train to London, pictures her as a movie star who enlists his assistance in avoiding the pesky paparazzi. Each of these fantasies is shattered as three dreamers see Valenska

disembark the train to be greeted by her husband and three children.
