Gurie is wrongly jailed and after four bitter years returns to society. Briggs is the district attorney who jailed her and then clears her name after discovering that the real killers have confessed to the crime. The confession was held over the head of the young district attorney,

however, in an attempt to keep him from prosecuting the friends of shifty politician Harvey. Briggs finally shakes off the nefarious politicians, falls in love with Gurie, and sinks the mighty Harvey. Eve Arden had only been in films for a few years, using the name Arden when FORGOTTEN WOMAN was

made, but at the time received raves for her comic style, later to be honed into the memorable biting wit and snappy line delivery that would make her famous. Arden appeared in two earlier films in 1929 and 1933 using her real name of Eunice Quedens.
