After pilfering plot points from THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME (1932), this moribund thriller adds the fillip of illegal betting.

Ex-Navy SEAL and Operation Desert Storm veteran Dakota Varley (Bas Rutten) soon regrets winning a speed-boating competition. After being drugged by the event’s chairman, Miles Dawson (Michael Rooker), Dakota wakes up on a plane and is forced to parachute onto a secluded island along with fellow captives Jesse (Paul Logan), Santha (Danielle Burgio), Darius (Jamal Duff), Seth (Phi-Long Nguyen), Tonya (Vickie Phillips) and Salvador (Marco Ruas). There the buff athletes discover they must compete in deadly nocturnal hunts; each competitor is sponsored by a millionaire who's betting that his or her champ to be the last fighter standing. In addition to Miles’s private army, the players must contend with rivals who are willing to increase the odds by terminating other candidates. Despite the dog-eat-dog nature of the competition, Dakota allows himself to be seduced by Santha, who attempts to kill him. After this near-fatal interlude, Dakota is relieved that he can trust Jesse, who's decided that a unified front may save their lives. Fortunately for all of them, Miles’ warden draws the line at fixing the deadly competition; rigging the game for mere money just isn’t good sportsmanship. Wait until the other bettors find out that greedy Miles has stacked the deck in Dakota’s favor! After the bad guys seriously injure Jesse, Dakota must single-handedly bring down the house.

In updating the human hunt scenario, screenwriter David Neilsen transforms the villain from insane participant to profit-driven spectator. Though cynical, that conceit doesn't add anything to the story.
