A western railroad saga detailing a battle between two rival freight lines--the Denver and the Rio Grande, and the Canyon City and San Juan--to be the first to cross the Rockies. O'Brien stars as the good-guy chief engineer of the D & RG, and Hayden is the slimy and unscrupulous engineer

of the CC & SJ. Action-packed, with gun fights, chases, fist fights and landslides, the climax sees two trains spectacularly crashing head-on. These trains were no Hollywood miniatures; they were actual, full-size trains that producer Holt acquired and permitted director Haskin to destroy with

obvious relish. The story line gets a bit farfetched, and the performances a bit overblown, but it's all in good fun.
